Oxygen provision in hyperbaric accidents

A course in the provision of oxygen is a requirement for Lock Operators under Australian Standard AS4774.1, Work in tunnels, shafts and caissons.

Course Outline

This course is designed to provide participants with training in the recognition of hyperbaric injuries that may benefit from oxygen first aid and the techniques for the provision of oxygen to both breathing and non-breathing victims and includes the use of demand valve resuscitation equipment as well as the non-rebreather mask and pocket mask with supplemental oxygen.

Assessment & Accreditation

The successful student needs to be able to demonstrate the correct use of each appliance in practical CPR and to satisfactorily pass a short multiple choice written examination paper.
